PBSI FIP UMJ Lecturers and Students Participate in the Indonesian Media Language and Literature Festival

Lecturers and students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Faculty of Education, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (PBSI FIP UMJ) took part in the 2023 Language and Literature Festival. This activity was organized by Media Indonesia to commemorate Language Month which will take place from 26-27 October 2023, in 2023 Language & Literature Festival Stage, Indonesian Media Office.

On this occasion, Lecturer at the PBSI FIP UMJ Study Program Khaerunnisa, M.Pd., said that the general public's skeptical perception was that the PBSI study program or Indonesian literature was less popular. This is because the public still has minimal knowledge about the benefits of Indonesian Literature, even though the PBSI study program has enormous employment opportunities. For example, when marketing offers goods or services, if you don't have language skills or process correct and good diction you will certainly find it difficult. "All activities require language and that is something that must be studied further," said Khaerunnisa.

The language and literature festival entitled "Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045 Through Literature" also presented other speakers, namely the Head of the PBSI Study Program, State University of Jakarta , Dr. Siti Ansoriyah, M.Pd., and Head of the PBSI Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIB UI), M. Umar Muslim, SS, MA, Ph.D.

On the same occasion, Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) FIP UMJ students also performed literary works in the form of poetry readings. The five students include Muhammad Faisal Ahwan, Randu Satya Kriswinarta, Prananda Hafizh Wibowo, Ali Yassin Akillah, and Muhammad Ilyas.

“At first it was nervous, especially watching it with great people. "But we try to show the best as much as possible," said Ilyas when interviewed. "I hope that today's young people can become more familiar with Indonesian literature and produce other literary works," added Ilyas, conveying his hopes.

Responding to this, Khaerunnisa said that the PBSI FIP UMJ student's performance received a positive response and needed to be appreciated. "This is the first performance for the students. "I hope that my fellow students will continue to be enthusiastic about honing their creativity and sharing with other campuses so that we can learn together," said Khaerunnisa.

"Don't be discouraged. "Even if you lose a match it is normal, but getting up and trying again is extraordinary," he continued.

This festival presents various kinds of literary performances ranging from poetry readings, monologues, short stories and performances of works by the nation's children. Apart from the performance of literary works, this event also provides various types of books by famous writers, one of which is Putu Wijaya and other writers which can be purchased.

Also present were the Editor-in-Chief of Media Indonesia, Ade Alawi, the Director General of Information and Public Communication, Kominfo , Usman Kansong, the Head of the Language Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture , Aminudin Aziz, and the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia , Muhammad Syarif Bando.
