Emergency Response in Disaster and Medical Service (ERDAMS) Faculty of Public Health, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FKM UMJ) conducted Water Rescue training with the Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa, at the FKM building and Situ Gintung lake, Cirendeu, on 27 to 28 October 2023

On the first day ERDAMS prepared a generation of pioneers in disaster preparedness and mitigation by holding a talk show on Respecting Water, Protecting Future Generations and Water Rescue Training and presenting speaker Dr. Budi Laksono, MHSc (Diponegoro University lecturer), Gibran Tragari, Erwandi Saputra, and Dr. Ernyansih SKM. MKM, and moderated by Chiki Fawzi.
In Dr. Budi Laksono, MHSc explained that water is an important natural resource and called for preserving it, "Water is a very valuable resource, and our actions now will have a huge impact on the quality of life of our children and grandchildren. "Let's work together to keep water clean, reduce waste and protect the water environment so that it remains sustainable," said Budi.
On the second day of activities, ERDAMS collaborated with DMC to provide basic water rescue training to ERDAMS members. Erwandi Saputra as DMC Dompet Dhuafa staff explained that water rescue is very important for assistance or rescue and evacuation from waters such as swimming pools, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and dams.
Barqu as DMC staff also invited the participants to carry out a simulation of a disaster mitigation program which was carried out in several stages, the first being rowing in a rubber boat. At this stage the participants simulate how to row, there are several types of rowing, namely forward rowing, backward rowing, push back rowing, sharp rowing, C stroke, J stroke and scaling .
ERDAMS participants also simulated how to save victims in the water using RTRGT ( Reach, Throw, Row, Go, Tow ), as well as simulating how to lift flood victims into rubber boats. The aim of this event is to save the lives and safety of individuals who are in danger or around water, such as lakes, seas and swimming pools and to minimize the risk of injury or loss of life in these situations.
